Well yesterday was twelfth night (5th Jan) so we should have taken down our decorations including our cards by now. I thought it was a good time to suggest saving your Christmas cards for reuse, and give you a few ideas on how to use them.
I don’t buy any gift tags I always use the previous year’s Christmas cards, the very small cards are good for this, as all you need to do is remove the back with the greeting on, punch a hole in it and thread a piece of string through and you have a tag.
Make your own Homemade Christmas cards for next year by cutting pictures out of Christmas cards and sticking them on to card blanks.
Cut 2 circles out of Christmas cards stick them together with a piece of ribbon as a loop to make a decoration to go on the Christmas tree.
For more fantastic crafty and creative things to do with Christmas cards check out Activity village I love the idea of making a box and garland out of old Christmas cards.
If you don’t fancy getting crafty with Christmas cards then make sure you recycle them, most can be recycled through your kerbside recycling collection. Or check out Recycle Now to find out where to recycle your Christmas cards.
What do you do with your old Christmas cards?
Great idea, I do use old cards as gift tags etc! Thanks for sharing.
Cards are so pretty it seems a waste just to recycle them. Love the garland idea, definitely going to do that with the kids this year.
Ran out of tags this year and wasn’t impressed with how much new ones cost so this is a great tip. Thank you, Jackie x
I love reusing things and getting something for free.
We do this as a family too. I believe in creative & recycled gift wrapping which includes the bows & tags. There is usually more laughter and enjoyment when opening our gifts.
It makes everything more personal and special.
I also use them to fill my “Standard-Everyday” Picture frames in all the public rooms in my house. I simply cut them to size or mat them, and they fill my frames for the season. It is a great way to ensure the frames are dusted for the holiday visitors LOL. Thank you for reminding us to get things put away.
What a lovely orginal idea.
